This page sets out the general framework for cancellations and refunds on package tours organised by Seyra Seyahat ve Turizm. As no bookings or payments are made through our website, these terms apply only to bookings finalised with our advisers and confirmed by a written package tour contract.
Each tour may have its own specific terms arising from the rules of airlines, hotels, cruise lines or activity providers. The information on this page is a general framework; the terms specific to your tour are set out in your contract.
1. Scope and Legal Framework
Our package tour contracts are prepared within the framework of Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and the Regulation on Package Tour Contracts. Nothing in the contract removes or limits the rights you have under this legislation.
- A booking is confirmed once the written package tour contract has been accepted and the deposit stated in the contract has been paid.
- Requests to cancel, change or obtain a refund must be made in writing by e-mail to merhaba@seyra.travel or to your adviser.
- Time limits are calculated from the date your written request reaches us to the tour's departure date.
- Unless stated otherwise, cancellation charges are calculated on the total tour price per person.
2. Cancellations by the Traveller
You may cancel your booking at any time before the tour begins. Depending on how long before departure your cancellation request reaches us, the following charges may apply.
These rates are a general framework; the terms specific to your tour are set out in your contract. If the non-refundable costs listed in section 3 exceed the cancellation charge, the refund is calculated after deducting those costs.
- 45 days or more before departure: the deposit and any non-refundable costs are retained.
- 44 to 30 days before departure: 30% of the tour price is charged.
- 29 to 15 days before departure: 50% of the tour price is charged.
- 14 to 8 days before departure: 75% of the tour price is charged.
- 7 days or less before departure, failure to join the tour (no-show) or leaving the tour after it has started: 100% of the tour price is charged.
3. Non-Refundable Costs
The following items are generally non-refundable, whenever you cancel, because they are paid to third-party providers or arranged specifically for you:
- Consular fees, visa service charges and e-visa fees, which are not refunded even if a visa is refused.
- Premiums for travel health insurance and cancellation insurance policies already issued.
- Non-refundable special-fare, promotional or charter flight tickets, and any change or cancellation fees charged by the airline once tickets have been issued.
- Charges applied by cruise lines under their own cancellation terms.
- Tickets for events such as concerts, festivals or matches, and accommodation or special services bought on non-refundable terms.
4. Cancellation by the Organiser
The minimum number of participants for each tour, and the latest date by which you will be told if it has not been reached, are stated in your contract. If the minimum is not reached or we cancel the tour, the following applies:
- You will be informed of the cancellation in writing, with the reason, within the period stated in your contract.
- You will receive a full refund of everything you have paid, with no deductions.
- If you prefer, instead of a refund you can move to another date of the same tour or to an equivalent tour, subject to availability; any price difference will be confirmed to you.
- If a significant change to the main elements of the programme becomes unavoidable before departure, we will tell you, and you may decline the change and request a full refund.
- Where a tour is cancelled for reasons other than insufficient participants or force majeure, your statutory rights remain unaffected.
5. Force Majeure
Force majeure covers extraordinary events that neither party could foresee or control, such as war, acts of terrorism, natural disasters, epidemics, travel restrictions imposed by the authorities and strikes. Where force majeure prevents a tour from going ahead in whole or in part:
- If the tour is cancelled before departure, the amount paid is refunded as required by law or, if both parties agree, transferred to a later date or another tour.
- If such events arise during the tour, the programme may be adjusted so that it can continue safely; services that cannot be provided are refunded to the extent that the amounts can be recovered from suppliers.
- Personal reasons such as illness, work or family matters do not count as force majeure; we recommend cancellation insurance to cover situations like these.
6. Name Changes and Transferring a Booking
If you are unable to travel, you may transfer your booking to another person who meets the requirements for joining the tour.
- Your transfer request must reach us in writing a reasonable time before the tour begins, generally no later than 7 days before departure.
- The person transferring the booking and the person taking it over are jointly and severally liable for any unpaid balance and for additional costs arising from the transfer.
- Extra charges for reissuing flight tickets, repeating a visa application or amending hotel reservations are passed on with supporting documentation.
- A name change may not be possible on some flights once tickets have been issued, or on tours where the visa process has been completed; in that case, the cancellation terms apply.
7. Cancellation Insurance
To protect yourself in case you cannot travel for an unexpected reason, we recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance when you book. Depending on the policy, the insurer may cover some or all of the cancellation charges.
- Cancellation insurance usually needs to be arranged at the time of booking and may not be available later.
- Policies commonly cover situations such as sudden illness or accident, or the serious illness or death of a close relative.
- Whether visa refusal, work reasons or pre-existing medical conditions are covered varies from policy to policy.
- Policy terms and exclusions form an agreement between you and the insurer, and it is the insurer who decides on any claim.
8. How Refunds Are Processed
Where you are entitled to a refund, the process works as follows:
- The refund amount is calculated according to your contract and the cancellation date, and confirmed to you in writing.
- Refunds are made using the original payment method: card payments are returned to the same card, and bank transfers to a bank account held in the name of the person who paid.
- Where the legislation requires, refunds are made within 14 days at the latest of the relevant notice reaching us or of our cancellation being notified to you; in other cases, the period stated in your contract applies.
- The time it takes for a card refund to appear on your account and statement depends on your bank.
- For tours priced in a foreign currency, the contract specifies the currency and exchange rate used for refunds.
- If you have any questions about refunds, e-mail merhaba@seyra.travel or call us on +90 850 000 00 00.
