Half of any Italian journey happens at the table: pizza in Naples, fresh pasta in Bologna, a long lunch among the vineyards of Tuscany. Booking ahead is recommended for the most popular museums and the Colosseum, and churches expect shoulders and knees to be covered. Note too that Venice may charge day-trippers an access fee on certain dates.
