Overview
The most rewarding way to see Scandinavia is by land and sea together. This route begins on the colourful quays of Copenhagen, and an overnight ferry carries us up the Oslofjord so that we wake in the Norwegian capital. From there we cross mountain passes to reach the fjord country of the west.
In Norway the highlights are the Flåm Railway, with waterfalls tumbling down steep slopes beside the track, and a boat trip on the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord – both included in the price. We then cross into Sweden, pause for a night in Karlstad on the shores of Lake Vänern, and spend two nights in Stockholm, built across fourteen islands.
The final act is an overnight ferry through the Stockholm archipelago to Helsinki. On the June and July departures the long northern daylight leaves the evenings free for exploring too. All stays include breakfast, and city tours are led by our Turkish-speaking guide.

Itinerary
Day 1 Istanbul – Copenhagen
We take a morning Pegasus flight to Copenhagen, the Danish capital. Our city tour on arrival covers the colourful houses of Nyhavn, Amalienborg Palace, home of the royal family, and the Little Mermaid statue on the Langelinie waterfront. After free time on the pedestrianised Strøget in the late afternoon we check in to our hotel.
Day 2 Copenhagen – Oslo Ferry
In the morning you can stroll around Rosenborg Castle or visit Christiansborg Palace. In the afternoon we board the DFDS ferry and settle into our cabins. In the evening we watch the Swedish and Danish coasts from the deck as we sail through the Øresund.
Day 3 Oslo – Fjord Country
In the morning we sail up the Oslofjord to reach the Norwegian capital. Our panoramic tour takes in the white marble Opera House rising from the water, Akershus Fortress and Karl Johans gate. In the afternoon we follow mountain roads along the Hallingdal valley, reaching our hotel in the Flåm area in the evening.
Day 4 Flåm Railway – Nærøyfjord – Oslo
In the morning we ride the Flåm Railway up the valley to Myrdal and back, passing deep valleys and cascading waterfalls, with a short stop at the Kjosfossen falls. We then sail by boat from Flåm to Gudvangen along the narrow, steep-sided, UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord. In the afternoon we take the mountain roads back to Oslo and check in to our hotel.
Day 5 Oslo – Karlstad
In the morning we visit Vigeland Sculpture Park in Frogner Park, where hundreds of sculptures by Gustav Vigeland depict the cycle of human life. Around midday we cross into Sweden and, after a drive of about 3 hours, reach Karlstad on the shores of Lake Vänern. In the late afternoon we take a short walk along the Klarälven river and through the town square.
Day 6 Karlstad – Stockholm
After breakfast a drive of about 3 hours 30 minutes through lakes and forests brings us to Stockholm. In the afternoon we see the exterior of Stockholm City Hall, venue of the Nobel Prize banquet, and look out over the city's islands from the Fjällgatan viewpoint on Södermalm. The evening is free.
Day 7 Stockholm: Gamla Stan & the Vasa Museum
In Gamla Stan, Stockholm's historic core, we explore the Royal Palace, the Stortorget square lined with colourful buildings and the narrow cobbled lanes. In the afternoon we visit the Vasa Museum on Djurgården to see the warship Vasa, which sank on her maiden voyage in 1628 and was raised from the sea in 1961. Free time in the evening.
Day 8 Stockholm – Helsinki Ferry
The morning is free for shopping or a walk on Djurgården. In the afternoon we board a Tallink Silja or Viking Line ferry. In the evening we watch from the deck as we thread through the thousands of small islands of the Stockholm archipelago.
Day 9 Helsinki – Istanbul
We arrive in Helsinki in the morning and begin our city tour: Senate Square and Helsinki Cathedral, the red-brick Uspenski Cathedral, the harbourside Market Square and the Temppeliaukio Church, carved into solid rock. In the afternoon we transfer to the airport for our Pegasus flight back to Istanbul.

You stay in 4★ hotels with easy access to the centre in Copenhagen, Oslo, Karlstad and Stockholm, and at a 3★ hotel surrounded by nature in the fjord country; two nights are spent in shared interior cabins on the ferries. All stays include breakfast, and hotel names are confirmed 7 days before departure.

Transport
You fly into Copenhagen and home from Helsinki with Pegasus. Overnight ferries link Copenhagen with Oslo and Stockholm with Helsinki, the Flåm Railway and a Nærøyfjord boat are used in Norway, and all other stages are by air-conditioned coach.

Visa Information Visa Required
Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland are all in the Schengen Area, so Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports need a valid Schengen visa. The application is made to the country where you spend the most nights, and our adviser will tell you which country that is for this programme. As summer appointments fill up early, we recommend applying at least 8 weeks before departure. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the return date and have at least 2 blank pages; current requirements are confirmed before departure.
Important Information
- Days 3 and 4 involve coach journeys of up to 6–7 hours including breaks, as we travel to and from the fjord country.
- Shared interior (windowless) cabins are used on the ferries; single and outside cabins are available for a supplement, subject to availability.
- Ferry and railway times may vary with the operators' seasonal timetables; if so, the guide will adjust the order of the programme while keeping its content.
- Currencies differ across Scandinavia (Danish and Norwegian kroner, Swedish krona, euro); card payments are accepted almost everywhere.
- The child price (ages 2–12) applies when sharing a room and cabin with two adults.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the Flåm Railway and fjord boat trip included?
Yes. The Flåm – Myrdal – Flåm train journey and the Nærøyfjord boat trip between Flåm and Gudvangen are included in the tour price. As these routes are busy in summer, tickets are reserved in advance for the group.
What are the ferry nights like?
On both ferries you stay in shared interior cabins with private bathrooms, and breakfast is served as a buffet on board. The ferries have restaurants, cafés and shops; dinner is not included in the price.
What is the weather like in summer?
From June to August daytime temperatures are usually 18–25 °C, but the fjord country can be cool and wet. We recommend dressing in layers and packing a waterproof jacket and comfortable walking shoes.
