Overview
Japan lets you move between centuries-old rituals and the city of the future in a single day. This route brings together the wooden temples of the former imperial capitals Kyoto and Nara, Osaka's lively street food and Tokyo's restless energy in one journey.
We designed the programme so that you won't need to buy extra excursions along the way: tours of Kyoto, Nara, Tokyo and Hakone, plus every entry fee in the programme, are included. We travel from Osaka to Tokyo by Shinkansen bullet train, cruise Lake Ashi in Hakone and, weather permitting, drive up to Mount Fuji's 5th Station.
A Turkish-speaking tour leader travels with you from Istanbul, joined by experienced local guides in each city. You stay in well-connected 4★ hotels in Osaka and Tokyo with breakfast included.

Itinerary
Day 1 Istanbul – Osaka
We meet our tour leader at Istanbul Airport and, after check-in, fly with Turkish Airlines to Osaka. The flight takes around 11.5 hours and we spend the night on board.
Day 2 Arrival in Osaka – Osaka Castle – Dotonbori
Our local guide meets us at Kansai Airport. On the way into the city we take a short walk through the grounds of Osaka Castle and photograph its white-walled, green-roofed main keep from outside. After checking in, the evening is free in Dotonbori, known for its neon signs and street food such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki.
Day 3 Kyoto: Fushimi Inari – Kiyomizu-dera – Gion
After breakfast a drive of about an hour brings us to Kyoto, Japan's imperial capital for more than a thousand years. Our first stop is Fushimi Inari, dedicated to Inari, the deity of rice and prosperity, where a path of thousands of torii gates winds up the hill. We then visit Kiyomizu-dera with its wooden terrace overlooking the city and end the day strolling among the traditional wooden townhouses of Gion, the district known for its geisha culture.
Day 4 Kyoto: Kinkaku-ji – Nara
In the morning we see Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, whose upper two floors are covered in gold leaf and reflected in the pond below. In the afternoon we continue to Nara, Japan's capital in the 8th century. We walk among the free-roaming deer of Nara Park to Todai-ji and visit the giant bronze Buddha inside its Great Buddha Hall. In the evening we return to Osaka.
Day 5 Shinkansen to Tokyo – Asakusa
After breakfast we board the Shinkansen at Shin-Osaka and reach Tokyo in about 2.5 hours; on a clear day Mount Fuji can be seen from the window along the way. In the afternoon we explore Senso-ji, regarded as Tokyo's oldest temple, the Kaminarimon gate with its giant lantern and the souvenir stalls of Nakamise Street. In the evening we check in to our hotel.
Day 6 Tokyo: Meiji Shrine – Harajuku – Shibuya
Our first stop is Meiji Shrine, dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken and set within a wooded grove in the heart of the city. After a look at the street fashion of Takeshita Street in nearby Harajuku, we head to Shibuya Crossing, one of the busiest pedestrian crossings in the world, and the statue of the loyal dog Hachiko. Free evening in Shinjuku or Ginza.
Day 7 Hakone – Lake Ashi – Mount Fuji
An early start and a drive of about 2 hours take us to Hakone. We cruise Lake Ashi, ringed by volcanic hills, and on clear days watch the summit of Fuji rise beyond the water. Then, weather and road conditions permitting, we drive up to Mount Fuji's 5th Station at around 2,300 metres; if the road is closed, we visit viewpoints around Lake Kawaguchi instead. We return to Tokyo in the evening.
Day 8 Tokyo – Istanbul
After breakfast we check out and transfer to the airport. We fly back to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines, where our tour comes to an end.

In Osaka and Tokyo you stay in 4★ hotels close to rail and metro links, with breakfast included. Rooms in Japanese city hotels tend to be compact. Hotel names are confirmed 7 days before departure.

Transport
The outbound flight to Osaka and the return from Tokyo are scheduled Turkish Airlines services. The Shinkansen is used between Osaka and Tokyo, with an air-conditioned private coach on touring days.

Visa Information Visa-free
Japan does not require a visa from Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports for tourist stays of up to 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the return date and have at least 2 blank pages. As entry rules can change, current requirements are confirmed before departure; guests of other nationalities should inform our advisers before booking.
Important Information
- Before the Shinkansen journey, large suitcases are sent ahead to the Tokyo hotel by luggage forwarding service and arrive the same or the following day; we recommend packing a small overnight bag.
- The drive up to Mount Fuji's 5th Station depends on weather and road conditions; if the road is closed, alternative viewpoints are visited.
- Touring days in Japan involve a fair amount of walking, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
- The tour operates with a minimum of 15 participants; if this is not reached you will be informed 21 days before departure.
- The child price (ages 2–12) applies when sharing a room with two adults; extra beds are limited in Japanese hotels.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I see the cherry blossoms on the March and April departures?
Cherry blossoms in Kyoto and Tokyo usually open between late March and early April, and the 20 March and 3 April departures are timed for this period. As blooming can shift by several days each year depending on the weather, it cannot be guaranteed.
Will I need to pay for extra excursions?
No. All tours in the programme, the Shinkansen ticket and entry fees are included. You only pay for lunches, dinners, the €50 service fee and personal expenses.
What happens if we can't drive up Mount Fuji?
The road to the 5th Station can be closed because of snow, fog or strong winds. In that case we visit viewpoints around Lake Kawaguchi instead; Hakone and the Lake Ashi cruise remain in the programme.
