Overview
This route is for travellers who want to see Egypt in the footsteps of the pharaohs. The journey begins in Cairo with the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, continues with a four-night cruise down the Nile from Aswan to Luxor and ends with two restful nights in Hurghada on the Red Sea.
A Nile cruise is one of the most relaxed ways to see the ancient temples: you unpack once, take all your meals on board and moor near a new temple each day. Entry to Philae, Kom Ombo, Edfu, the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temple is included.
A domestic flight from Cairo to Aswan, an air-conditioned coach from Luxor to Hurghada and a Turkish-speaking guide throughout are all part of the programme, so there are no extra flights or connections to worry about.

Itinerary
Day 1 Istanbul – Cairo
We meet at Sabiha Gökçen Airport and take AJet's morning flight to Cairo. On arrival we visit the Mosque of Muhammad Ali at the Saladin Citadel, high above Cairo, looking out over the Sultan Hassan Mosque and the city from the terrace. After free time in Khan el-Khalili bazaar we check in to our hotel.
Day 2 Pyramids of Giza – Sphinx – Grand Egyptian Museum
After breakfast we see the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure on the Giza Plateau and photograph all three together from the panoramic viewpoint. After visiting the Sphinx we continue to the neighbouring Grand Egyptian Museum, spending time with the colossal statue of Ramesses II, the grand staircase and the Tutankhamun collection. The evening is free.
Day 3 Cairo – Aswan – Philae – Nile Cruise
Early in the morning we fly to Aswan and board our 5★ Nile cruise ship. After lunch we see the Aswan High Dam, completed in 1970, which created Lake Nasser. A motorboat takes us to Agilkia Island to explore Philae Temple, dedicated to Isis and moved here with UNESCO support to save it from rising waters. Dinner is on board.
Day 4 Aswan – Kom Ombo
In the morning we sail around Elephantine Island on a traditional felucca; alternatively, those who wish can join an optional early-morning trip to the temples of Abu Simbel. Around midday our ship begins sailing north. In the late afternoon we visit Kom Ombo, a double temple dedicated to the crocodile-headed Sobek and the falcon-headed Haroeris.
Day 5 Edfu – Esna – Luxor
Early in the morning a horse-drawn carriage takes us to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, a Ptolemaic-era building and one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Back on board, we pass through the lock at Esna and sail on towards Luxor, watching riverside villages and palm groves from the deck. In the evening the ship moors in Luxor.
Day 6 Valley of the Kings – Hatshepsut – Karnak – Luxor Temple
On the Nile's West Bank we stop briefly at the Colossi of Memnon, visit three tombs in the Valley of the Kings and see the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. In the afternoon, on the East Bank, we explore Karnak Temple with its 134-column Great Hypostyle Hall and Luxor Temple, linked to it by the Avenue of Sphinxes. Our last evening on board is a galabiya night, when guests dress in traditional Egyptian robes.
Day 7 Luxor – Hurghada
After breakfast we disembark and our air-conditioned coach crosses the Eastern Desert to Hurghada on the Red Sea. In the afternoon we check in to our all-inclusive hotel and spend the rest of the day on the beach or by the pool.
Day 8 Hurghada – Free Day
The day is entirely yours. Swim in the clear waters of the Red Sea from your hotel's private beach or snorkel over the reefs close to shore. A boat trip to Giftun Island with snorkelling stops can be arranged through our guide.
Day 9 Hurghada – Istanbul
After breakfast we check out and transfer to the airport in time for our flight. We return to Istanbul with AJet, where our tour ends.

You stay bed and breakfast at a 5★ hotel in Cairo, full board on a 5★ Nile cruise ship between Aswan and Luxor, and all-inclusive at a 5★ beach hotel in Hurghada. Hotel and ship names are confirmed 7 days before departure.

Transport
The outbound flight to Cairo and the return from Hurghada to Istanbul are scheduled AJet services. We fly from Cairo to Aswan on a domestic flight, sail from Aswan to Luxor on the Nile cruise ship and travel from Luxor to Hurghada by air-conditioned coach.

Visa Information Visa on Arrival
Egypt issues visas on arrival to Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports for tourist travel; on arrival at Cairo Airport the visa is obtained for USD 25, paid in cash. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry and have at least 2 blank pages. As the scope and fee of the visa-on-arrival scheme can change, current requirements are confirmed before departure; if needed, we arrange the visa for you in advance.
Important Information
- Cruise departure and mooring times may change depending on the queue at the Esna lock and river traffic; the guide will adjust the order of visits while keeping the content the same.
- The Cairo – Aswan domestic flight leaves early in the morning, so on day 3 we depart the hotel very early and breakfast may be provided as a packed box.
- Cabins are allocated at embarkation; requests for upper-deck cabins are subject to a supplement and availability.
- The Luxor – Hurghada journey takes about 4 hours, with a break along the way.
- The child price (ages 2–12) applies when sharing a room or cabin with two adults on an extra bed; triple cabins on the ship are subject to availability.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is daily life like on the Nile cruise ship?
Temple visits usually take place early in the morning and in the cooler late afternoon; in between, you can relax by the sun-deck pool and loungers as the ship sails. All meals are served as buffets in the ship's restaurant.
Why does the cruise sail from Aswan to Luxor?
Sailing north with the Nile's current makes for a smoother journey. Ending the cruise in Luxor also lets us continue straight to Hurghada by coach in about 4 hours, with no need for an extra domestic flight.
Can I visit Abu Simbel?
Yes, an optional trip from Aswan to the temples of Abu Simbel departs before dawn on day 4; the drive takes about 3.5 hours each way and you are back before the ship sails. It costs €110 per person, and those who join will miss the felucca ride.
