Overview
Morocco lets you pass through strikingly different worlds in a single week. We begin in Casablanca on the Atlantic coast, visit the capital Rabat, then lose ourselves in the centuries-old lanes of the Fes el-Bali medina. From there we cross the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas and descend to Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara.
At the heart of the route is a night among the Erg Chebbi dunes: we reach the camp by 4x4, ride camels up into the sand at sunset and, after dinner, watch the stars far from any city lights. The next day Todra Gorge, the valley of kasbahs and UNESCO-listed Aït Benhaddou carry us on towards Marrakech.
We spend two nights in Marrakech, leaving unhurried time for the Koutoubia Mosque, the Majorelle Garden and Jemaa el-Fnaa Square as it comes alive in the evening. On the December departure you welcome the new year in Marrakech.

Itinerary
Day 1 Istanbul – Casablanca – Rabat – Fes
We take a morning Turkish Airlines flight to Casablanca. Meeting our guide, we visit the Hassan II Mosque, built out over the Atlantic. In Rabat we see the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, then reach our hotel in Fes in the evening.
Day 2 The Fes el-Bali Medina
We spend the day with a licensed local guide in Fes el-Bali, a car-free medina of countless narrow lanes. Entering through the blue-tiled Bab Bou Jeloud gate, we explore the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain and the area around the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque. After watching the dye pits of the Chouara tannery from a terrace, we stop for photos at the golden gates of the Royal Palace.
Day 3 Fes – Ifrane – Middle Atlas – Merzouga
After a short stop in Ifrane, a town with an almost Alpine feel, we cross the cedar-clad Middle Atlas, where with luck we may spot Barbary macaques among the trees. Heading south along the palm groves of the Ziz Valley, we switch to 4x4 vehicles in Merzouga. At sunset we ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes, and after dinner we gaze at the stars from the camp.
Day 4 Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Ouarzazate
Those who wish can watch the sunrise over the dunes before breakfast, after which the 4x4s take us back to the main road. At Todra Gorge near Tinghir we take a short walk between its towering rock walls. We continue through the Dades Valley, lined with kasbahs, and reach Ouarzazate in the evening.
Day 5 Aït Benhaddou – Tizi n'Tichka – Marrakech
We take a guided walk through Aït Benhaddou, the UNESCO World Heritage mud-brick ksar that has served as a backdrop for many films. We then cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass at around 2,260 metres and descend to Marrakech. Free time in the evening, when Jemaa el-Fnaa Square fills with food stalls and musicians.
Day 6 Marrakech City Tour
We begin at the 12th-century minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque, the city's landmark. We tour the tilework and carved wood of the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs and the Majorelle Garden with its famous cobalt-blue walls. The afternoon is free for the souks; on the December departure an optional New Year's Eve gala dinner is offered.
Day 7 Marrakech – Casablanca – Istanbul
After breakfast a coach journey of about 3 hours takes us to Casablanca Airport. We fly back to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines in the afternoon, taking Morocco's colours and the stillness of the desert home with us.

You stay in comfortable 4★ hotels in Fes, Ouarzazate and Marrakech, and at a desert camp of tents with private bathrooms at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Hotel names are confirmed 7 days before departure.

Transport
Outbound and return flights are scheduled Turkish Airlines services via Casablanca. An air-conditioned tour vehicle is used throughout, with 4x4 vehicles for the desert camp transfer in Merzouga.

Visa Information Visa-free
Morocco does not require a visa from Turkish citizens holding ordinary passports for tourist visits of up to 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the return date and have at least 2 blank pages. As entry rules can change, current requirements are confirmed before departure; guests of other nationalities should inform our advisers before booking.
Important Information
- The Fes – Merzouga and Merzouga – Ouarzazate stages involve road journeys of up to 6–8 hours with regular breaks.
- Desert camp tents have private bathrooms, but comfort levels differ from hotels; in winter desert nights can approach 0 °C, so warm clothing is recommended.
- The camel ride is optional; guests who prefer not to ride can reach the dunes by 4x4 or on foot.
- Apart from the Hassan II Mosque, mosque interiors in Morocco are generally closed to non-Muslim visitors; the guide may adjust the order of visits depending on weather and road conditions.
- The child price (ages 2–12) applies when sharing a room with two adults on an extra bed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the desert camp like?
The camp sits at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes, with tents that have proper beds, blankets and private bathrooms. Dinner is served at the camp; electricity and hot water may be more limited than in a hotel.
Is the camel ride suitable for everyone?
The camel ride is short and gently paced, suitable for most guests. Anyone with back or joint problems, or who is pregnant, can reach the dunes by 4x4 instead; just let our guide know in advance.
Is there a New Year programme on the December departure?
On the 27 December departure you are in Marrakech on 31 December. Our guide offers an optional gala dinner, or you can spend the evening independently around Jemaa el-Fnaa.
